Color schemes are hard for me, by and large because I'm colorblind for every color combination imaginable. But I get by. I think the idea behind the border is a way to show that the owner of the site posted. A note about the colors, I used the strategy here that I have been using for the last couple of designs. If you see the banner picture, all of the colors on the site come from that. If you have a good picture with good colors, use that as your color scheme. Derrick hit the nail on the head with his comments on the color scheme - it really works for me. The comments layout looks a bit awkward for me, with the thin white border around your comment being the crux of the issue. Maybe if you constrict that border? Lessen the padding a bit mayhaps?
