I liked some of your choices. HOWEVER, I am greatly disppointed in your decision to go with top 25 just because that seemed more convinient. A good list is all about making the tough cuts, but apparently the younger generation looks for the easy way out. Also, I think you forgot Kelly Clarkson.
I did go with 25 since a friend wanted to know all 29 I had selected to whittle down, so don't be disappointed due to lack of rough choices, be disappointed due to caving to peer pressure. That being said, a top ten would have just been the top ten from that list, so I kind of had to make those decisions still,Now I gave to defend my choices to my wife who said they are all from the same genre, and I think I have quite a few genres in there.
Wait, this is my fault? *feels honored*Is Cut Copy on there because I introduced you to it? Because that would make me all warm inside.
I don't know, I kind of have to agree with Rebekah. There's a lot of pitchfork on that list and while they may contend that their favorites span genres, there really is a single, coherent sound to a lot of them.
On further reflection...I thought you liked LCD Soundsystem? I think Sound of Silver is a masterpiece.
Also, here's my list if you're interested: http://290revisited.blogspot.com/2009/12/best-albums-of-decade.html
@Mark - I will explain (read: defend) my process in an upcoming post, so hopefully that will make more sense of the genre thoughts@Richard - 25 instead of 10 was your fault
And both you and eMusic introduced me to Cut Copy, so feel half warm inside there. and I dont really dig LCD Soundsystem.
No u2?!? little surprised by no Bloc Party - Silent Alarm, Clap your Hands Say Yeah or The National
I havn't liked U2's work since the mid-90s, Bloc Party and CYHSY never impressed me. The National was close, but will be explained in my next post
