Prell vs. Foulks

A Fight to Remember

In one of the most epic battles since Tyson vs. Holyfield, the ear biting one, The Microsoft Kid went up against The Woman known only as Theresa in a Help Desk Battle for the ages.

This fight lasted 3 rounds with the judges, Scott Iverson, Frank Broz and Mark Ahrens declaring Foulks the winner in the 3rd round.

Here is the round by round breakdown:

Prologue

Prior to entering the battle, JPrell was antagonized in two separate incidents. First up was the questioning of installing OS X on a Frontline computer. After some minor discussion with one of the refs, JPrell decided he was right, but still went to put OS 9.1 back on the machine, leaving a partition large enough to install OS X on in the future.

Shortly after this encounter, there was the query as to why there were Microsoft WebCasts on the Events section of the IntraTurd. After some heated discussion, there was a no decision ruling as to whether they belonged there or on the Knowledge Center. However, both of these encounters left JPrell agitated and prime for the main event.

In her defense, The Queen did have some royal issues to deal with as well. It seems that Phillips Hall was having some problems with their DHCP servers which, as was proven later, caused her to be on break mode for 31% of her morning shift.

With all of the pieces in place now, at 12:13 P.M. September 7th, 2001, the epic battle began.

Round 1

Announcing that he was not going to work phones in the afternoon, The Court Jester piqued Her Highness’s attention. Asking for his statement to be repeated, JPrell said that he had many other projects to work on, including Active Directory and using his XP machine through the network. Theresa kindly asked him from across the room why he thought he could change the schedule. This is the beginning of the nasty stuff.

The Microsoft Kid said that since he was backup, he managed the schedule and he could take the time to work on his projects. Theresa then asked him if Tracy made the schedule or not, to which JPrell replied, “Yes, but as backup I can change it.” Looking surprised, Theresa then told JPrell he would be working phones this afternoon. JPrell decided this was the end of Round 1 and stormed back to his office to recoup.

Round 1 Notes:

The time JPrell was to be working phones, he was no longer backup, therefore he didn’t “manage” the schedule anymore.

Although the backup can request people come from the back to cover other people’s spots, they cannot decide that someone shouldn’t work on the phones, that is Tracy’s call.

Round 2

After spending some time in the back, venting through MSN at one of the judges, Prell decided to return to the ring, this time looking for some ammo. Headed back to the backup station, he printed out a paper and walked over to Theresa’s desk. Although unknown at the time, The Microsoft Kid had printed a screen shot of Theresa’s time on Break Mode, noticing that she was the only one with 31% of her time on it. The Queen took the sheet, asked what she should do with it, to which the Kid told her to keep it. TFoulks proceeded to throw away the paper, stinging the Kid’s chin. However, The Court Jester came back with a stunning blow, claiming that when he was backup “he was her supervisor” and she would listen to him. Bouncing back with amazing resiliency, The Queen replied with a simple “No you aren’t” and Prell was left to march to the back again.

Round 2 Notes:

As was stated before, Theresa was working in that 31% of her time on Break Mode

There is a slim chance that the backup is actually “supervisor”

Final Round

After sulking some more in back, claiming he “couldn’t believe what she was doing,” The Kid returned to the fight, battered and bruised. JPrell returned to the ring, headed straight for The Queen, but Her Highness was just too strong. After less than a minute, Prell returned to the back to contemplate strategy. After a few minutes, one of the judges, Mark Ahrens, was messaged that Prell could not continue and that he was no longer feeling well and headed home. As soon as The Court Jester left, Mark Ahrens went to The Queen of all Nations to let her know of her victory. Pleased that he left, there was peace for the rest of the afternoon.

Final Round Notes:

JPrell did leave without posting anything to Corporate Time, leaving the judge to make the announcement.

There was much amusement throughout the afternoon at the entire incident.

CONTEST

Post Fight Thoughts:

All in all, this was an impressive battle between two of the more stubborn people at the Help Desk. (Ed. Note: Theresa says she is not stubborn, or not as stubborn as some other people at the Help Desk.) Putting the Prell vs. Ahrens and Prell vs. Thompson fights to shame, the is a battle for the ages. Now the only thing that remains is the fall out, which will not be known until early next week.

Thanks for stoppin by and I hope it was entertaining.
