I'm anxious to hear how this turns out for you. We've talked about doing this a few times, but have never pulled the trigger. The only thing really holding us back is some of the cable channels we watch don't have much of a (full show streaming) internet presence yet. We just need to decide how valuable that content is to us.

We thought about a WMC and decided against it due to the concern about keeping virus software update. For Linux, my previous experiences caused me to skip it. The time constraints meant we wanted something that we were familiar with and could setup easily and the Boxee plugin for FrontRow makes it even easier.

I've been thinking of a solution that streams online content for a little while too. Have you thought about Windows Media Center or a Linux distro? Or is the Mac mini a done deal?
