So when my Macbook went down for a couple of days, I found myself at a bit of a loss because I had to backup my data and just tonight restoring it back to the Macbook.? It did get me thinking of what I need on my laptop vs. what can sit in storage here on the Mac at home.? It then got me thinking more of what is the best way to collect important things about my life in the most efficient way.? I have e-mails, comics, music, documents, calendar stuff, contacts, etc, yet none of the most important stuff is collected in one place.? Worse off, even if I did have that, I don't have a great place to store stuff I just want to keep and don't need on a day to day basis.? The perfect solution would be keeping the most important stuff on the Macbook with an easy way to transfer files from the Mac at home, even when I am at work.? I am open to thoughts and suggestions, so have at it.

I've been wrestling with this for quite some time as well. I've had my new desktop built at home now since early February, and just this past weekend I started to get my music and photo collections consolidated and in any semblance of order. I'm just lazy most times when it comes to organizing data.
Anyway, as to the solution...well, I'm still working on that. I'll get back to ya.
I say we get a file server at home that you and I both can have storage on. Then we can combine our music and set the home mac to share iTunes. Buy that iTunes port thingyamajiggy and that way we can get rid of the cd player. Then our photos could be combined at home and use iPhoto share to view them from your laptop. Those are the two biggies. Oh and we would have access to the file server from everywhere because we could always logon to the mac and choose that volume. Now to afford the file server....
Should have registered for it.
.Mac Account with some sweet synching action!
Scott, we can still register for it. Does that mean you'll buy it for us?!
