  • Wordpress 2.5 and New Design

    3

I have upgraded to Wordpress 2.5.  Not too much new stuff for the viewers of this site, but lots of neat stuff on the admin panel.  My hopes are now that the work on the admin panel is done, Wordpress will turn to the reader's experience next.  To celebrate the new version, I also came up with a new design for the site.  There is still a little CSS tinkering to be done, but in general it is ready to go.  Take it for a spin and let me know what you think.

  • StumbleUpon – Pick of the Week

    0

StumbleUpon is a service that I heard about awhile ago, but really got into in the last few weeks.  Basically you install a toolbar for your browser and choose the types of sites you like.  Then clicking the Stumble! button, you are taken to a random site that has been favorited by other people on the web.  You can also add sites you like through the toolbar and keep track of favorites as well.  So far I have found a lot of neat new sites through use of the Stumble button.  It is also great if you are looking to kill about 5 minutes on a new site.

There is also a social aspect of the service which I have not gotten too into, however if you want to check out my profile it is at http://mizidymizark.stumbleupon.com/.  There you can find sites that I have favorited through the service.

  • Richard D. James Album – Album of the Week

To some, this is a no brainer, but for those of you who have not heard the Richard D. James Album by Aphex Twin, you owe yourself a favor to do so right now.  If you like electronic music at all, even in passing, check out this album because it is a masterpiece of electronic music.  Aphex Twin somehow makes seemingly random noises come together in a harmony that is just amazing.  I could keep saying more about it, but that would be wasting time you should be getting and listening to this.  Enjoy!

  • Senuti – Pick of the Week

    0

A little late on the pick of the week, but I give you the handy-dandy tool for moving music off your iPod to your Mac, Senuti.  Senuti will move tracks into iTunes for you and keep their play counts for those of you interested in that sort of thing.  It also is smart enough to know what it has moved in the past and can compare to what exists in iTunes already so it doesn't copy over stuff you have.  This is a great example of a tool that does one thing and does it really well.

  • The Shepard’s Dog – Album of the Week

A 2007 album that came in after I posted my top 15, The Shepard's Dog by Iron & Wine is a fantastic indie folksy album that is perfect for a nice calm evening.  It also works well for programming at work or pretty much anything else you might choose to do.  The quality of this album is fantastic and the soothing music can only put you in a good mood.  If you are not familiar with Iron & Wine, I would recommend checking this out as a first foray into his music.
