14. Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?

ofmontreal.jpgAn interesting album, Hissing Fauna seems to lend itself to a lot of new wave sounds.  Some of this may be the Norwegian influence on the album (the lead singer spent some less than great time there during the writing of the album).  My only assumption is that Norway hasn’t moved out of the 80s music-wise.

In any case, the whole album is pretty good with some eclectic sound, including one of the better tracks, Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse. Sometimes this doesn’t work as well, such as Gronlandic Edit.  But then it follows up with A Sentence Of Sorts In Kongsvinger which brings some normalcy back and was my favorite track on the album.  Overall the album is a fun experience and worth a visit.

I am tempted to try this album since you and Pitchfork have given it positive reviews.
