  • Get Organized, Slob!

    5

So when my Macbook went down for a couple of days, I found myself at a bit of a loss because I had to backup my data and just tonight restoring it back to the Macbook.? It did get me thinking of what I need on my laptop vs. what can sit in storage here on the Mac at home.? It then got me thinking more of what is the best way to collect important things about my life in the most efficient way.? I have e-mails, comics, music, documents, calendar stuff, contacts, etc, yet none of the most important stuff is collected in one place.? Worse off, even if I did have that, I don't have a great place to store stuff I just want to keep and don't need on a day to day basis.? The perfect solution would be keeping the most important stuff on the Macbook with an easy way to transfer files from the Mac at home, even when I am at work.? I am open to thoughts and suggestions, so have at it.

  • Scifi Friday!

    2

Last night was a hardcore scifi Friday for Rebekah and I.? We started the evening with Serenty, completing our Firefly experience.? I definately enjoyed Firefly, as everyone and their mother told me I would.? I am now added to the list of people that is upset it got cancelled and wishes it would come back.? I am sure I am joined by many that really wants to find out the history of Shephard Book acted out and instead of hoping the Wikipedia is correct.

After Serenty, we watched both Stargates, with SG-1 having it's 200th episode.? It was definately an episode for fans of the show as there were a number of references to the history of the show and the history of the production of the show. If you are an SG-1 fan, definately watch the episode.? After all that, Atlantis was good, but a bit of a filler episode in the grand scheme of things.? Overall it was a nice evening relaxing before the beginning of the semester and the stress that brings.

  • Work Computer Done Busted

    2

So my Macbook has been having problems the last 3 days.? Randomly the machine will shut down, that is about it.? Unfortunately none of the recommendations from the AppleCare techs could help so it is being sent back for Apple to take a look at.? This means that I will be sans computer at home for the next week or so.? I guess that means I don't have an excuse not to work on the comic database db design.

  • Major Marvel Events I Have Missed

    0

Today I got the trade for the classic Marvel event, Secret Wars, which got me thinking about other major events that I have not had a chance to read yet. I have read the following:

    • Civil War (In Progress)
    • Annihilation (In Progress)
    • House of M
    • Avengers Disassembled
    • Onslaught
    • Infinity Gauntlet
    • Infinity War

I have also read about half of the Age of Apocalypse so far, but that is a lot to go through. So basically I am now checking with other Marvel people to find out what other events I should be looking up and checking out.

  • Windows Live Writer

Today Microsoft released a beta of a free blog writing program, Windows Live Writer.? It appears to be similar in features to w.blogger and ecto, but without Parallels still, I cannot test it tonight.? The one thing that WLW touts is the ability to add new categories to Wordpress blogs, something that I have not found in other blog writing programs.? In any case, Microsoft did open up an SDK for the program so maybe this will be a win for Microsoft in the Web 2.0 word.

One other thing that intrigues me with this is the possibility of using it as a support model for University departmental web sites.? Instead of tinkering with licenses for Macromedia Contribute, the University might be able to use this and some sort of content management software for departments to keep up their site.? Who knows, but in any case it is an interesting development for blogs tonight.
