  • MizCD 0.6

Hot on the heels of the original beta release, I now have MizCD 0.6 available for download. No real major backend changes, just adding a style sheet and reorganizing some of the pages. I did not make any changes to the database so you can overwrite the old files with the new one and it should just work. Also, this download is considerably smaller because the first release had a temp file that was accidentally saved when ziping everything up.

  • Some Bowl Game History

So while doing some random browsing on Google satellite photos today, I was surprised to find the picture for Pro Player stadium in Miami to have some Iowa football history. If you use Google Earth, you can get a bigger image of the same thing.

After some redesigning and rethinking some of the things I was doing with the cd collection software, I have finally gotten an initial version done. This is VERY VERY basic, no styling at all and lots of little bugs, however for everyone who was interested in seeing this software, now there is something that you can see. Basically you need to know how to create a database on your web host, edit the vars.php file with your database information, and then open the install directory. It will then install the software and you can go to the admin folder to start adding things.

If you do try it out and find some bugs, I am planning on posting this on Sourceforge, but in the meantime you can use the comments here. The next steps will be adding a style, working on little bugs and then looking to more advanced features, such as file uploading and AJAX additions of artists, genres and labels. I am also open to suggestions, so feel free to post those here as well. Without further ado: Miz CD 0.5

  • Shameless Plug for del.icio.us

I originally sent this to the HDJunk mail list here at work, but I thought it was good enough to be a blog post as well, so here goes:

As some of you may know, del.icio.us was purchased by Yahoo on Friday. This may or may not mean anything to you depending on your interest in the Web 2.0 phenomenon, however in an effort to expand tech knowledge, I have decided to try and explain what this del.icio.us is and why you might use it. » Read the rest of the entry..

  • Google vs. Yahoo – A personal choice

With Yahoo's purchase of del.icio.us on Friday, I found myself wondering which camp I really sat in. I have always found myself attracted to much of what Google does and offers and have thought of Yahoo as always trying to play catch up. Now that Yahoo has a couple of the more popular Web 2.0 applications, they have gotten me wondering what else they are offering. So here I have decided to list out what types of things I am using from each company right now, as well as some other things that neither company offers but could be in the market for. » Read the rest of the entry..
