  • Flocking No More

    0

After lots of delays, Flock has started to disappoint me. They put up a roadmap of when things will be updated, however it is not being met and many of the features were still not being used by myself. I have been using it as my primary browser for over a month now though, and it would take something fairly big to make me switch back to Firefox. Today I found that something big, other than the official 1.5 release. It is the del.icio.us extension. This has many of the convience features of the Star and Tag in Flock, but uses a del.icio.us interface and adds a number of other features. Because this could get me about everything Flock was offering me in one extension, I made the switch back to good old Firefox.

  • Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving travels are about half done and it has been quite enjoyable so far. Lots of turkey has been eaten and family (well soon to be official family so far) has been visisted. I posted some pictures of the two visits so far on my Flickr account in the Thanksgiving 2005 set. As you may have noticed, I have also gotten on the Victoria picture bandwagon as there are a number of pictures on there of her. Tomorrow we move on to my family where we are doing fondue instead of turkey. I think I am ok with that as I am just about turkeyed out.

  • WordPress 2.0 Beta

    12

I decided to download the beta of WordPress 2.0 to see if my new Marktopia theme would work in it easily. Happily it does and both plugins that are needed also work, so I am happy. There isn't too much visable to the end user with the new version, however the admin interface has been totally redone and works nicely. The only problem that I ran into was the Permalinks options page causing my local Apache server to crash. I will wait until the final release to upgrade my web site for now. However, I am a bit frustrated with the built in spam words moderation stuff, so if anyone is using a good comment spam blocker for WordPress, I am would love to hear about one.

  • Super Size Me

I havn't had a movie make me think about the way I lived my life in awhile, but this one actually did. This documentary is about a man who decides to eat McDonald's for 30 days for all 3 meals as a result of wording in a lawsuit against McDonald's. The movie also has a lot of information about the food industry and fast foods in general. Having seen this movie, I do not plan on going to any fast food resturants in a long time. I won't go into too much detail, but when his diet is compared to binge drinking with the effect on his liver, it definately scared me off. I encourage people to see this movie, if for no other reason but to know what exactly happens at places like McDonalds.

  • The Rundown

If you like generic action with a little comedy thrown in, this movie will statisfy your appetite. You basically have The Rock, Seann William Scott and Christopher Walken in the jungle. There are fights, a few clever jokes, lots of immature jokes and a couple of twists to make things interesting. I won't say it was a great movie, but it was entertaining enough to keep me interested. Also, I was surprised that The Rock wasn't awful in it, as he was in Doom.
