  • Web Site Updates

Just in case anyone was concerned, no I have not forgotten about the redesign of the blog. I have been working on it the last week now that Metroid Prime is beaten and all of the theft hassles are gone. I am hoping to have it up by the end of the week, but I won't make any promises. I also plan on catching up on my music reviews. The next two on the list are Moby's new album, Hotel and Portishead's Dummy. Those should be purchased by the end of the week with reviews sometime next week.

I have also decided to offer some web space for the CD trading extravaganza at the Help Desk. The page will have a listing of all the songs on each person's CD and potentially some space for discussion. I will talk with Ryan and see what he would like. So that is about it, just wanted to let everyone know that the site remains and will be updated soon.

  • Arcade Fire – Funeral (2004)

    2

I decided to take Derrick's advice once again and try out Funeral by Arcade Fire, as you may have seen if you have ever looked at my Audioscrobbler Profile. Luckily this album has a better result than the Modest Mouse fiasco (FYI, that album still hasn't grown on me). This is a nice rock album that takes some musical cues from bands like Talking Heads and David Bowie and puts a modern spin on them. Like most of the albums I get, I would recommend listening to the whole album and not single songs. However, if you must take one or two songs, I would recommend Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels), the first track on the album and Neighborhood #3 (Power Out), the fourth track. Both of these are good examples of the harder rock and would probably cader to more of the audience.

  • Metroid Prime BEAT

On Wednesday evening, on my third time trying to beat Metroid Prime (the boss), it died at the hands of Samus Aran. After playing through most of the game once and then having to do it again after the theft, Metroid Prime is finally beat. Unfortunately I missed some missile upgrades so I only had a 89% completion rate, however it is nice to have the game beaten finally. Now I have to decide which game to move onto for the Gamecube.

  • March Madness

After 12 hours of hoops yesterday, then a couple hours of Metroid Prime, then waking up this morning and nearly beating Prime, I was ready for some more hoops this morning. Eleven rolled around and I get to start with Charlotte vs. NC St., but then I am quickly informed that I will be switched to a different game starting in a few minutes. To my dismay, it is the Minnesota/ISU game. Normally this would be OK, I can deal with watching Minnesota and ISU, but then comes the kicker, Billy Packer is commentating the game. Within the first few minutes, Packer is screaming about a travel and almost accusing him of cheating. Therefore, I am going to go to HyVee and get some food for the day and be content in not having to listen to Billy Packer.

  • Kasabian – Kasabian (2005)

The hype machine is turned way up here as the British fad comes to iTunes and the US. Actually I am just making that up, I have no idea how well the album did here or how much it was really hyped. I do know that the album is rock solid though. I don't know that I would go so far to say that this is the new sound of rock, but if it is, I would be OK with that as well. This is a well put together album that sounds good, but also shows the potential for growth as well. This is an album that you can put in and 45 minutes later feel quite satisfied. While there are good individual tracks, I personally recommend listening to the whole album through.
