  • New Site, New Address, New Fun

    5

I have finally gotten the switch complete and this is now being hosted off my home computer. First off, please let me know if you suffer any slowness or issues with loading pages so I can judge the load on the server. Also, let me know if you notice any old pictures missing or anything like that from old posts.

Next up, I am now using WordPress instead of MovableType. I am so much happier with this program. I don't have to republish the entire site to add a new entry and this uses PHP and MySQL exclusively. If you are wondering about more features, check out their web site, it is well done and works great.

Look for more posts from me in the next few days as I get used to the new software and have more to say. Also, http://www.dudeweek.com/ will now point to http://dudeweek.blogdns.com/ which is the new URL for my blog. But feel free to keep using dudeweek.com, I will support it still.

Leave a comment on who you think is the true MFing soldier in sports today.

In case you need to compare quotes, here they are:

Winslow: "It's war. They're out there to kill you, so I'm out there to kill them. We don't care about anybody but this U. They're going after my legs. I'm going to come right back at them. I'm a mother fucking soldier."

Garnett: "This is it and for all the marbles. I'm sitting in the house loading up the pump, loading up the Uzi, I've got a couple of M-16s, a couple of nines (millimeter pistols) and a couple of joints with some silencers on them. I'm just loading up clips, a couple of grenades, a missile launcher with a couple of missiles."

  • More Web Site Changes

I am going through some changes again for my weblog, which is why I haven't been updating it much. I am looking to switch from MovableType to WordPress. This is due to the change in MovableType's policy. They are now charging for users who have more than 3 weblogs and various other things. Even though I don't use many of the features that they are charging for, I am a bit frustrated by this change in policy. In any case, I decided it was time to make a change and after doing some research, it seemed that WordPress was the best alternative.

This does mean it will be a little bit of time while I learn the new templates for WordPress and come up with a design that will work for it. Luckily I will be able to import all of my entries from MT with the comments into WordPress, so when it goes active, you will still have all your old entries. There is also going to be an additional URL change, but www.dudeweek.com will still work. More on that as I get closer to rolling this out.

Frank (Go No) Furter: Brewers' sausage retires

It appears that the page has turned for Mandy Block, the woman who was toppled over by Randall Simon last summer when she was running in the Brewers' Sausage Race. During the dog days of summer, when baseball is chugging along and we are anxiously awaiting the football season, the Wiener Beaner incident helped keep SportsCenter interesting for at least 3 days. From the interview with Mandy where she claimed to be "just a weiner" to the conspiracy theory about that race, SportsCenter went to town with this story.

Thank you Mandy for being a good sport about all of this, you could have turned this real ugly claiming some sort of abuse. Instead you took the joke like a good spirited person would and allowed this to be as entertaining as possible. Good luck in your class this summer.

Rebekah hadn't seen this film, so I made it a priority that she see this. I don't need to say much about this film as most people have seen it and love it. It is funny every time you see it and the DVD had about 2 minutes of extra footage, so you aren't missing too much if you haven't seen the DVD. In any case, see this movie immediately if you haven't already.
