I won't claim that Eminem is a good actor by any means, however, he does play his character in the movie fairly well. Of course, this character was not a stretch for him by any means seeing it was autobiographical, but he still played the role admirably. I thought the movie moved along at a good pace, although role Heather Graham played was a bit overdone. The scenes at the end of the film were awfully cheesy, but that does not discount some of the scenes with his mother which were quite intense. Kim Basinger played Eminem's mother with enough passion to carry each of those scenes. The rap battles are also entertaining, although at times reminded me of the old HBO show "Snaps."

Uninvited Male Stripper Hitting UI Dormitories

There is so much greatness in this article, I could not stop laughing at it. First off, we have the base of the story being this guy giving free strip shows. Then we have the detailed report of one of the incidents. Now if I were being interviewed about this, I would choose to leave my name out of it to avoid embarrassment, but Tana Sanders has no problems telling her account. We then have the last line of the article with the UI response not having a policy against stripping. Just classy stuff all around here.

    Passwords revealed by sweet deal

Over the last couple of months, we have been moving to a more secure username and password system here at the U of Iowa. The Hawk ID now has expiring passwords, stronger strength requirements and remembering of the old passwords so you cannot use the same one. After reading the article above that was on Slashdot this morning, I wonder if it is really worth it.

We have gotten a number of complaints about this change here and it seems that many people are content being insecure. I can understand their argument, if I don't lock my doors to my house at night, it is my fault that someone got in. I don't have my landlord coming by every month making sure I lock my doors, so why should the University force their users to change their passwords. The argument for the University is that it is protecting patient and financial records which are covered by different laws. This would only seem to matter then to people who can view these different records. For 95% of the students on campus, they don't have this access and can only get to their own information. So why not let them leave their password the same if they want, it is only their information they would be losing and if they want to risk it, who are we to stop them. I mean, I bet the person in the photo below gave up her password for a chocolate bar like the people in the survey.

  • NBA Playoffs Predictions

    5

I have not been the biggest NBA fan this year, hell, the last 4 years, but I thought I would still comment and predict the upcoming playoffs since the only other choice would be hockey, and well...

    Eastern Conference:

    (1) Indiana vs (8) Boston - Boston isn't that good, Indiana is, Indiana in 4.
    (4) Miami vs (5) New Orleans - With Baron Davis back and the lack of playoff experience with Miami, I am going with New Orleans in 6.
    (3) Detroit vs (6) Milwaukee - They say "Defense wins championships." It will at least win the first round series, Detroit in 5.
    (2) New Jersey vs (7) New York - Experience will prevail once again, New Jersey in 5.

    (1) Indiana vs (5) New Orleans - Indiana looked good every time I saw them this year and New Orleans is in a bit if disarray, Indiana in 6.
    (2) New Jersey vs (3) Detroit - New Jersey has too many weapons, but Detroit puts up a great effort, New Jersey in 7.

    (1) Indiana vs. (2) New Jersey - New Jersey will be tired after a tough series with Detroit and Indiana is a good enough team to take advantage of that, Indiana in 6.

    Western Conference

    (1) Minnesota vs (8) Denver - Denver is real hot right now and I am not convinced that Minnesota realizes there is a difference between the playoffs and regular season play. Denver in 6. (Sorry Rick)
    (4) Sacramento vs. (5) Dallas - In a match up to find out which team is more soft, Dallas falters again, Sacramento in 5.
    (3) San Antonio vs (6) Memphis - San Antonio just is too strong for Memphis this year. (Ed. Note: Why is Memphis still in the West, they would be a 1 or 2 seed in the East where they belong.) San Antonio in 5.
    (2) Los Angeles vs (7) Houston - We get a series of Shaq vs. Yao, does it get better than this? I think this year will be a lesson for Yao on how to play in the playoffs, LA in 5.

    (2) Los Angeles vs. (8) Denver - The first round was Denver's finals, Melo gets the Rookie of the Year (At least Co-Rook), Los Angeles moves on, LA in 4.
    (3) San Antonio vs. (4) Sacramento - This will be a great series that comes down to a seventh game, I have no idea who will win, so I will choose who I want to win, Sacramento in 7.

    (2) Los Angeles vs. (4) Sacramento - Rematch of two years ago, with LA being well rested, they move on, LA in 6.

Finals - Indiana vs. Los Angeles - I see a well rounded match up here, but Kobe takes over and leads the Lakers to victory.
